Which is Better For The Kids: Divorce or an Unhappy Marriage?

This dialogue brings together two people whose parents made starkly different choices for the good of their children. Her parents stayed together to provide stability. Mine divorced as soon as they could. As adults, we can now reflect on how that affected us and compare notes.

All the best people I know came from parents who were divorced or unhappily married. Thanks for sharing something so personal. A lot of people can relate.

Many times people who are problem solvers do the opposite in their lives of what they most disliked about their parent or parents. This seems to be the case with both parties. I believe in nature, but also nurture. People are not only mentally/psychologically, but emotionally and physically similar to their parents, which makes a person seeing what did not work for their parents and choosing the opposite for themselves a reasonable decision.
